FAQs

Why is this happening?

Two usernames and two passwords are cumbersome for both you and IT to deal with. Having the same username and password for both will be more convenient, and will allow for people use collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint more easily. It will also help those who share computers (hot desk) with ease of first sign on. Furthermore, it will help improve our cyber-security.

How will this affect me?

After the work is complete you will have one username and password to sign into both your computer and Microsoft accounts. This is instead of the two sets that you currently have.

For example, you Bob Ross, currently signs into a work computer with “bross” & “ReallyStrongPassword” and signs into Microsoft resources with “bross@chesterracecompany.onmicrosoft.com” & “AnotherStrongPassword”. After the work is complete you will just use “bross@chester-races.com” & “ReallyStrongPassword” to sign into both.

My email doesn’t end @chester-races.com

You will sign in with whatever your primary email address is e.g. bob@thewhitehorsechester.co.uk, bross@musselburgh-racecourse.co.uk etc.

2 accounts? I don’t have a Microsoft account do I?

Everyone has two accounts, you just might not know that you have two separate accounts, if you’ve never needed to access Microsoft services on your phone/2nd computer.

I have another question…

If your question is not answered here please log a ticket via email helpdesk@chester-races.com or scroll to the the bottom of the page and click "Submit a ticket" button. We will answer you and update the FAQ.
