Uploading Files to Teams

 Email Attachments

To save attachment into Teams, you need to save file locally first onto your PC, and then upload your file into preferred location in Teams. To do this, follow the steps below: 
 
  1. 1. Move your mouse over the right side of the attachment (1) and click the down arrow that appears. 

  1. 2. From the drop-down menu that appears, select “Save As” (2). 
     


  2. 3. In the Save As window that opens, select documents to save locally. If needed, edit file name and type in respective fields. Select “Save”.




  3. 4. Now open Teams to upload file. Go to channel you want to upload your file. In this case, file is going to upload into the “IT>General>USER INSTRUCTIONS” folder.  

  1. 5. From the menu bar, select Upload. From the drop-down menu, select the file type that you want to upload.

  2. 6. When you pick an option, it will open up File Explorer for you to select the file which you have saved locally onto your PC. In this case, we saved the file in Documents, so will select the file and click “Open”. 

  3. 7. Once you have successfully uploaded your file, you get below message in Teams.



    1. Local Files 


    1. Uploading local files or folders that are already saved locally can be done in 2 ways: 

    1. 1. In Teams – in the Files section of the Team that you are uploading to you need to first navigate to the folder that you with to upload to. Then, you can select the “Upload” button from the menu bar. 
      1.  From here, you can select what it is you want to upload. A window will open for you to navigate to the file/folder. Once selected, click “Open” 


      2. 2. Straight from file Explorer/Outlook, you can click and drag files directly into the Teams window.

        When dragging the file over, the Window in Teams changed to show that a file was being dropped into the folder.



    1. 3. Once done – There is a file notification to say that this was successful
