Microsoft Account Multi-factor Authentication Setup

Going forward, to login to your Chester Race Company Microsoft account, you will need to supply two authentication factors, your computer password and an approval from the Microsoft Authenticator app. This means even if your computer password is compromised, an attacker still can't login without an approval from from your authenticator app.
Do not approve a sign in with your app unless it is you who is signing in.

Guide

Open this guide on a computer, not on your mobile phone
You will need the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your phone. If you already have it because installed, then simply open the app. (This is the same app as is used for NetExtender multi-factor authentication).

If you do not already have it installed, please follow this link on your phone.
or search for "Microsoft Authenticator" in the App Store or Play Store.


Back on your computer start the enrolment process by clicking this link https://aka.ms/mfasetup

Enter your work email address and password and click Sign in


More information required will show, click Next.



If instead you are prompted to approve sign in request, you are already enrolled, you do not need to continue



You may be prompted for a code from text message. If not prompted for text, skip to step Setup the app

If the last digits of the phone number don't match your phone number, please contact IT with your current mobile number and we will correct this for you.

If you have signed in with a text message, you will land on this page. Click, add a sign in method

Choose Authenticator App



Setup the app

Once you have Microsoft Authenticator app open on your phone, click Next


...to display a QR code.



On your phone, in the Microsoft Authenticator app, press plus icon in the top right hand corner to add an account.
Pick Work or school account


Then pick Scan a QR code



You will then be prompted to approve the sign-in. Tap APPROVE

You will then get a Success screen, click Done to complete
